Meet the Counselors
Meet the Counselors
My name is Rachel Burkett (Ms. Rachel), and I am so proud to be part of Loomis Union School District's counseling team! I am truly passionate about providing individual, small group, and classroom lessons to students. I love being a safe space for students in need of support. I am an advocate for students and families, and strongly believe that all students can be successful by identifying and building upon their strengths.
I have my Master's of Education in School Counseling from University of Southern California (fight on, Trojans!) and a PPS-School Counseling credential. I also earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Arizona State University after attending Sierra College and receiving degrees in Psychology, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Prior to joining Loomis Union School District, I worked as a comprehensive middle school counselor in Auburn.
I look forward to connecting with you! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or are needing support for you or your student.
Schedule
Placer Elementary School: Monday - Friday
My name is Samantha Miller and I am so excited to be a part of LUSD. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and attended Sonoma State where I obtained my BA in Human Development and minor in Early Childhood Studies. I then moved to the Sacramento area and spent 5 years working as a preschool teacher. I absolutely loved it but I decided to continue my education and went back to school to obtain my masters degree in School Counseling at Sacramento State. I have a passion for helping students and families find the skills and resources needed to face all of life's challenges and reach their full potential. I believe that the social emotional health of students is very important and should be an integral part of the school setting. I am currently serving two school sites (Franklin & Ophir) providing individual, group, and whole class Social Emotional support and education. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns, or just want to chat!
I look forward to working with you!
Schedule
Franklin: Monday (PM), Wednesday, Friday
Ophir: Monday (AM), Tuesday, Thursday
My name is Sarah Voss Pereira and I’m excited to be working within LUSD schools. Although I am a Mental Health Specialist through Placer County Office of Education, I am truly honored to serve as part of the Loomis Grammar School community and the district’s counseling team. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University and my Master of Science in Counseling from Sacramento State University. I hold a Marriage and Family Therapist license (LMFT) , as well as a PPS credential in School Counseling.
I genuinely love working in a school setting and supporting the social and emotional well-being of students, families, and staff. Using a tiered approach, I provide student check-ins, group counseling, and individual counseling services. I also support classrooms through whole-class social-emotional learning and education.
I strongly believe that the best outcomes for students happen when schools and families work together. I value partnering with parents and caregivers, collaborating as a team to support each child’s growth, resilience, and overall well-being.
I look forward to connecting with you! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, need support for yourself or your student, or would simply like to connect.
